Feline Friday: In Your Face!

IMG_0771This gorgeous kitty face, courtesy of mhstrp2009 illustrates that face-to-face, in-your-face, face-off behavior that kitties so often seem to want. While they may appear to be shrinking violets who hide under the bed–as does the little cat in the Ask Amy video below–they really want to be close to us.

But on THEIR terms!

Do you have a shy cat? You can reduce kitty anxiety with these tips.  What about bed-sharing kitties? When Seren was a baby my husband couldn’t sleep with her on the bed because her purr kept him away. These days, of course, the Magical-Dawg hogs the pillows. Are the cats avoiding the bedroom or swiping the covers? Maybe they sleep under the bed or chase each other and play midnight tag with your toes? How do you deal?

I love hearing from you, so please share comments and questions. Do you have an ASK AMY question you’d like answered? 1. Fascinating! Why is it these things make so much sense *after* they are explained to us? lol. Anyway, so much fun seeing you answer the question. Loved it!

  2. My kitty likes to go under my roommate’s bed 15 minutes before bedtime. The kitty sleeps with me, but she always sneaks into the other room and tries to get under the bed. We’ve stuffed a bunch of junk under there so she can’t get under anymore, and she gets mad! She’ll go in and poke around, and when my roommate tells her, “tough luck, now get out,” she actually meows in response. In a rather grumpy tone, I might add. It’s actually kind of cute.

Lately, she’s taken to going under my bed instead, around the same time in the evening, but she always comes out before I go to bed. It seems to me she might be protesting something.
